THE GOLFCarton OMeara
Carton House O’Meara, Carton House Montgomerie, Moyvally and PGA National

The O’Meara explores the swooping pastures and tiptoes around ancient specimen trees on this magnificent estate. Feature holes include the 14th, 15th, & 16th – a pair of 3′s wrapped around a heroic par 5 – crossing the lazy loops of the River Rye. Meanwhile, Montgomerie course is actually quite barren looking -with a links appearance – with shimmering fescue grasses separating fast running fairways. There is a great mix of holes with long par fours backed up with tricky short ones, while the bunkers are penal and strategically placed. The PGA National Ireland course is a golfing paradise, with impressive bunkering, imaginative water features and challenging holes. The challenging course is set amidst thousands of mature trees that boast a variety of colour and each hole has its own individual charm. No handicap certificate is required, although beginners might find this championship course demanding. Darren Clarke has created a course at Moyvalley to be enjoyed by the weekend golfer as well as the tournament professional. The greens are among the best putting surfaces in the country, with gentle slopes which will make you consider carefully where to place your approach shot.
