THE GOLF
Carne, Enniscrone and County Sligo – three fabulous links
Carne is one of those finest golf courses to have opened in recent years and it can only be described as a hidden gem. Carne lies in splendid sand dunes overlooking Blacksod Bay, the legendary Inis Geidhe and Inis Gluaire Islands and dramatic Achill; affording little disturbance to the natural and unspoilt environment that surrounds it.
Enniscrone is one of Ireland’s finest links and set amid scenic splendour in Killala Bay. This championship venue provides dramatic dunesland, superb greens all year round and breathtaking views. The course has been embellished with the addition of six new holes expertly designed and threading the path through the mountainous dunes.
Sligo Golf Club has hosted most of Ireland’s major championships over the years. Three extended beaches beneath the cliffs keep the Atlantic at Bay to the west of the course while towering Benbulben competes with the ocean for scenic splendour on the land side.
